About Shelley

Shelley Jund is an Idaho native and has lived much of her adult life in Boise, Idaho. She graduated from Boise State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration. Shelley has been exhibiting in Boise area shows since 2010.

Shelley creates two-dimensional art and works in various mediums including resin, encaustic, and metal leaf. She is particularly intrigued by the waxy, soft-focus of encaustic against the glassy, sharpness of resin. The use of those materials evoke both a dream-state and a wakeful awareness for her.

Her vocabulary draws from the natural world, and thematically, she is fascinated by the microcosm and macrocosm, the contemplation of science and spirit, and the use of contrasting materials such as encaustic and resin. Her work also compares physical realms and suggests three states of consciousness: the cosmos and a higher frequency; the terrestrial and an earthly, wakeful state; and an aquatic dreamtime that draws from ancient memories.
